Who We Are
Labor Friends of Palestine is a group of Australian Labor Party members working towards freedom, equality and justice for the Palestinian people. We welcome everyone, regardless of background, who shares a commitment to peace and justice for all people in the region.
Our objectives:
- Support the self-determination and rights of the Palestinian people
- Promote an Australian foreign policy grounded in human rights and international law
- Oppose and condemn racism in all forms, including anti-Arab and anti-Jewish prejudice
- Provide a forum within the Labor Party to organise for a just and lasting peace
What We Do
Labor Friends of Palestine calls on the Labor Government to fulfil Australia's legal obligations regarding the Occupied Palestinian Territory and to provide support, aid and justice for the Palestinian people, and take strong action to pressure Israel to cease its illegal occupation.
Our key demands, supported by international law and an overwhelming majority of rank-and-file ALP members are for
- comprehensive sanctions against the executive members of the Netanyahu government;
- an end to all direct or indirect Australian export of arms, military components or materiel to Israel;
- and a review of all relations to ensure that no Australian entities are providing aid or assistance to Israel in the commission of unlawful acts.
Labor Friends of Palestine members have campaigned for these aims in their branches, at ALP State Conferences, in meetings with MPs, in their unions and through community-based Palestine solidarity groups.
Stand in solidarity with Palestine — join us today.
